Funniest stag memory:
I could seriously write a book of stag anecdotes, but if I had to choose I had a lovely group from Dublin, with whom I truly became friends with by the end of their stay.

When I took them out on their pub crawl, it was great! But something strange was going on every time someone hugged me or made a ploy to get my attention. Pretty soon I figured out their game - whenever one of the lads was distracting me another one was posing with my ass. They started to laugh and showed me their camera, which was full of pictures of my ass!

When they went home they made a group on facebook called the fans of Kitti’s ass :D:D

What is your favorite thing about Budapest?
The nightlife. It’s absolutely fantastic. I’ve been to lots of countries but nowhere is as good as in Budapest.

What’s the best thing about being a rep for Stag Republic?
I can confidently say that I’ve been participating in more stag do’s than any man ever does and it’s absolute fun. I make so many new friends. And eventhough I’ve never been to the UK, if I ever make it there I will have at least 100 guys to go party with!

What’s one thing you recommend each stag group MUST do when in Budapest?
EVERYTHING except sleeping! Life is for living, rock this shit!

Kitti’s Budapest Favourites:

Restaurant: Sir Lancelot

Bar: Morissons 2

Clubbing: Hajógyári sziget (Shipyard Island)

Spot to relax: Széchényi thermal baths and Margaret Island

Budapest Guide - Szilvi

Hello Stags! We’re back again after a loooong holiday break. Well, okay - we were back sooner but were too lazy to post anything.

Moving on! Introducing one of our relatively new and very cute Budapest guides - Szilvia. She likes to be called Szilvi. And she likes to partaaay! So get to know her a little better:

Lovely SzilviWhen did you start working as a rep? 2009 February

What are you studying? Law (Smarty-pants)

What is your favourite stag activity/event? Pub Crawl, stag dinner , Boat Cruise

And why? Pub Crawl: It’s great to have the chance to show my groups the REAL Budapest nightlife, and take them to places which they would never find on their own.

Boat Cruise:  Perfect relaxing day activity after a hard night on the town.  I love showing the lads how beautiful the Hungarian capital is and why I’m proud to live here.  All the bridges on the Danube, the Parliament,  the castle…beautiful! Having a few beers with friends, surrounded by gorgeous waitresses and scenerey…what could be better?!

Stag dinner:  Out to dinner with loads of lads… do your really have to ask? (uh, no, guess not!)

What things do you dislike? I really hate when the lads start a food fight at the stag dinner. That’s just not cool.

What is your proudest moment? Not being hungover after a pub crawl. (We like her style!)

Hungarian bombshellsWhat’s your favourite alcoholic drink? Vodka lemon

A city you’d love to visit? New York

Your best stag group anecdote? I have sooo many! My stag groups always keep me amused. But I will NEVER forget the stag who jumped into the Danube during a boat cruise. NEVER.

In Budapest:

Your favorite bar: Szimpla Kert, Instant, all the ruin bars, and simply the best in Budapest -Negro

Your favorite café : Café Alibi - the best coffee in town! (they do delicious brekky too) and Muvész Kávéház on Andrássy Blvd.

Your favorite restaurant: Menza on Liszt Ferenc square.

So, stags, if you’re in BP - you know who to call: Stag Republic! 0845 686 0619

Funniest stag group story? “One weekend I was taking one of my groups for a walk along Váci street, when we happened upon a live beauty pageant exhibiting bikini-clad ladies on Vörösmarty square. One of the lads from the group, who was about 65 years old, decided to get undressed (luckily his underwear stayed on),  he wrote a large number on a piece of paper (just like each model was holding) and started marching up and down in front of the stage. Everyone gathered began taking pictures of him and applauding him.” Wow, we’re sure the models were impressed…

What is your favorite thing about Budapest? The relaxed atmosphere and the never-ending parties.

What’s the best thing about being a rep for Stag Republic? I get paid to party with cool people!!!

Cheap European Stag Destinations - Budapest

We’re all feeling the crunch these days. So I’m going to post info on one of our cheap European Stag Destinations every so often, to help you decide which one is best for you.
This week it’s all about Budapest!!!

First of all, Hungary is not yet on the Euro, so your Pound goes a lot further. Other Central European Euro zone countries have become less popular with stags because of the exchange rate, but Budapest still represents very good value for money.

budapest hostelhostel room budapesthostel bathroom budapest
So, we’ve added Hostels to the list of accommodation choices. So what if it doesn’t include breakfast?! Who the hell gets up that early any way on a stag do? Get straight out of bed and go to the pub. All the hostels we use are in the thick of it, downtown, central - you’ve got the idea - right? You’ll be sharing big rooms with lots of beds (4, 6, 8 or 12 beds) but once again - who cares?! You shouldn’t be sleeping on a stag do anyways. Price is 55 GBP per person all year round for two nights. This price also includes round-trip airport transfers and a six-hour guided pub crawl. You really can’t do better than that lads! Click here for more info - Budapest Hostel Package. This leaves the bulk of the stag kitty for beers, bullets and babes.

budget hotel budapestbudapest budget bathroombudapest budget hotel room
If you still want the comforts of a hotel, that’s where our budget package comes in. You’ll still be staying in centrally located 2 and 3 star hotels, just sharing triples or quads. The rooms are ensuite, breakfast is included, as are the usual Stag Republic perks (pretty guides, airport transfers and pub crawl) Click here for prices and full info - Budapest Budget Package

budapest stag groupstag group trabant
Please remember, the words hostel and budget do not mean we cut corners on quality. We still provide top guides, top transfers and top local knowledge and advice. After all memories are not made from which hotel you stay in but the quality time spent with your mates shooting guns, drinking beers and chatting up the ladies.

Credit Crunch Strippers - Beautiful strippers with half the teeth… Just kidding! Just Kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!

Budapest Guide - Anita Z.

Get to know Anita, one of our lovely guides in Budapest:

Anita Z laughing1) What are you studying?

I study Engineering Management at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in the MSC program. I ‘m in my fifth year now - finishing soon - but before that I would like to do an internship abroad. (most likely India).

2) How long have you been working as a Stag Republic Guide?

Anita on a pub crawlI have been working for Stag Republic for two and a half years. I’m really lovin’  it! I love getting to know different people, showing them around our fantastic city, helping them experience true Hungarian hospitality, and making sure they have maximum fun on all their activities. Stag Republic is a very well organised company and all my colleagues are really nice. The lads always have a truly excellent weekend thanks to our whole team. All our activities are conducted professionally - everyone feels safe and well looked after.

3) Which city / cities are you a rep in?
I’m located in Budapest, the city of the Danube River, beautiful evening lights, Goulash soup, cool bars, the “old timer” Trabant cars, sunshine, gorgeous girls and pleasure. All you need!!!

4) Favourite music/artist?
I know this sounds cliché, but I like all sorts of different music: Massive Attack, Orishas, David Guetta, George Benson, E-Z Rollers. I recently went to see COLDPLAY live on their Viva la Vida tour stop in Budapest.

5) Favourite movie ever?
Paris je t’aime! (2006)
In the movie twenty short films represent the twenty arrondissements of Paris, but what is the film really about? Big city life, fortunes and situations that our beyond our control.

6) Interests/hobbies? What are your passions?
I love going for really long walks with my dog, Boni, he’s a Golden Spaniel. I like cooking, shopping, jogging, cycling without any exact place of destination and traveling for sure!!

7) Favourite stag/hen activity?
Its a shame that I can only choose one :)  weeelll, lets see:
Anita and the fountain of youthI’ll have to choose the Trabant Trek: driving through the city to the country side, up into the hills in 50 year-old cars, driving with a bunch of English blokes not used to the steering wheel being on the left side of the car, the destination is always a nice restaurant with a delicious traditional Hungarian meal for lunch. I must say, I’m always amazed - it’s such a great fun!!!

8) What do you dislike?
I don’t really dislike any of the activities, but the lads can get a bit overly boisterous on the Boat Cruise. This is understandable, considering they are surrounded by gorgeous half-naked women, but I don’t really like having to fish stags out of the river during the boat cruise using a lifesaver because they just decide to jump overboard. I definitely dislike that ;)

9) Your proudest moment with Stag Republic?
When I was voted Best Guide based on the volume of positive feedback sent by stags thanking Stag Republic for a succesful and memorable stag do, and in particular thanking me for taking such good care of them!

10) Favourite alcoholic drink?
“Fröccs” - White wine spritzer (dry wine)

11) A city you’d love to visit (but haven’t yet)?
Delhi

12) Best stag or hen group memory?
Once I took a group for Cross Country Quads, and there was an extra quad so I was able to join in. It was such a great fun - see picture below:

Anita quading

13) What is the best thing about Budapest? (for visitors)
Open-air (courtyard) pre-party bars and clubs with parties till the sun-up :)

14) What do you like best about the job?
Part-time job that is about having fun, meeting loads of guys, networking more friends on Facebook. :-)   :-)

The Fella’s Birthday!

It’s Paul’s Birthday today - sssh, don’t tell him he’s turning 40!

We had a smaller celebration in the office today - Josey brought Mexican food from Arriba Taqueria (yummy!) and we ate out on the terrace (it’s lovely day in Budapest, sunny and breezy) then we gave Paul his gift - something he’s been yearning for a long time - a shisha! (or hookah, or nargilah or ghelyan, or vizipipa if you’re Hungarian) and a box of date-filled biscuits which he loves. Some pictures of the terrace birthday celebration:

Paul and his Pipe handing over the date biscuits Phone and Pipe

Paul gets his gifts, then, of course, right away gets a phone call.

serious pipe business smiles

I think we were going for the secret agent look in the first one, but then we became all smiles. And no, I’m not fat - just preggers! 8 months!

So, if you happen to be in Budapest tonight - come one, come all to celebrate Paul’s Birthday! View the invite here:

Paul's bday invite

All we can say is “Happy Birthday, Fella!”

Hopefully we’ll take loads of pictures tonight at the party and will post next week!

Stag Republic Halloween 2007

stag republic pumpkins

BOO! We celebrated Halloween, my birthday and had Anna’s leaving party Stag Republic style! We started as usual, with a spread of food fit for a Stag king - cakes, scones, chips and salsa, strudel and champagne.

stag republic office party Anna in the stag office pumpkins in a stag office in budapest

Above - chowing down with the Stag office people. Saying goodbye to Anna… and finally, we get to choose our pumpkins.

pumpkin carving technique pumpkin gutting and carving in the stag office carving pumpkins with stag organisers

The carving starts with instructions for first-time pumpkin carvers Nora and Helen. Then the goriness begins. Pumpkin guts and seeds are flung about with abandon and Helen is quite grossed out by the whole process.

horizontal pumpkin Nora's first pumpkin EVER pumkins and the stag office

The results! Helen is really courageous and carves her pumpkin horizontally (left). Nora’s turns out perfectly (middle) and they all look quite dashing with the Stag Republic office in the background

more glowing pumpkins glowing in the dark pumpkins

We studied our masterworks for a while in the dark and came to the conclusion that these glowing pumpkins resembled a group of drunken lads on a Stag Do, so the whole thing seemed very appropriate and worthwhile. Click to enlarge the picture and if you look closely at the pumpkin faces, they do look like drunk people at a bar. We were a bit tipsy too, mind you…

Stag Republic Office Update

A lot of things have changed in our Budapest office between the very last time we wrote in this blog to the new updates here in October 2007. Szilvi and Eszter have both left us. Szilvi moved to the UK to try her luck there, so if you see her make sure to give her a big hug from the Stag Republic team. Eszter also moved on to bigger and better things. Kate came back for a visit:

Kate's visit
While we miss all our colleagues and friends tons, there is a new face in the SR offices whom we are growing to love as much - Nora. Nora is our new financial manager and she is top-notch. She is learning to speak English and Esperanto! She worked in banks before this and has admitted that working for this Stag company is much more fun and exciting - especially since she helps out a lot with bookings too. So, welcome smiley Nora!

Nora

Josey has had an addition to his family in the meantime too! The Little Bear as Josey likes to call him was born on June 16, 2007. He has come to visit us in the office a few times now. Here are a few pictures of the official heir to the Stag Republic throne:

WeeJaw is born WeeJaw at birth JAW Jaw & WeeJAW
Other than that, we’re still pretty much the same! Like we still have these two crazy Hungarian retro-advertisements postcards hanging on the cupboards:

Retro Cottage Cheese This one is advertising cottage cheese

Retro Cheese This one says “Ready, Set, Cheese!!!”
We’d love to hear from you so drop us a line about a stag weekend you’ve been on recently, or if you have any questions about any of our European Stag Weekend destinations at info@stagrepublic.co.uk
