Riga Guide - Elina

Introducing electric Elina, the newest addition to our team of guides in Riga. She definitely adds spunk and sparkle to any stag weekend. Here are her answers to our usual questions:

Where were you born? I was born in Latvia, in a little city we all call RIGA

How long have you been working with us? This is my first year with Stag Republic

What languages do you speak? Latvian, Russian and English

What’s your favourite music? I am really open-minded, so I like all kinds of music, from classical to drum and bass, from Marylin Manson to Andreas Bocelli

What’s your favourite movie? Hmm..it`s really interesting, because I never rememmber actors names and I’m the same with movie titles. However, the most recent film I saw was „EAT.PRAY.LOVE.” A chickflick, but I think that everyone can find something worthwhile in it. It’s not just girly films I love.  I have a thing for horrors. I tend to laugh through them because I just see ketchup, not blood everywhere.

Are you studying? Where else do you work? I am studying Business Studies in Industry and this is my last year. I also work as a manager at a hair salon.

What do you do in your free time? I have a big family, so I babysit my sisters children when they need help. I also love to take a part in all sorts of different international projects. So now you may think I’m way too busy, BUT no worries, for party time you will find me every time.  I always make time for party time.

What is your favourite restaurant in Riga? It’s really dificult to pick just one fave restaurant. I love Latvian food, but I like other types too. It depends on my mood. The best at the moment is ‘Maja’ which means house. They have a great mix of interesting fusion cuisine. It’s not located in Old Riga, but about 10 minutes from there and totally worth the trip. I like Index Cafe too, it`s a café/bakery that offers a great selection of healthy, yet delicious food.
Their service is prompt and friendly, and they really make you feel at home.

What is your favourite pub/bar/club in Riga? I love parties! So I know every pub, bar, club in Riga. My night usually starts in a cafe or shots bar, then it depends on what my friends and I are in the mood for. I like to start with small clubs/bars and then go to bigger and bigger clubs. Like ‘PUSH’, ‘ESSENTIAL’, ‘Kalku varti’ and others. In Riga the choice is definitely smaller but this is good, because you can visit all of them in one night. That way the next night you know exactly where you want to go.

What is your favourite stag activity in Riga? The party bus! Why?! Because it’s our own little private party place where we can do whatever we want!!! Yupiiiii!

Funniest stag party story thus far? Let me think…. I can’t tell you here in public, way too risqué, even for the Stag Republic blog. But if you remember to ask me when you come to Riga, I will tell you the whole, raunchy story in private.
