Beer lovers rejoice, for Budapest is a city of thirsty brothers in arms and as soon as the sun comes out and stays out (about June) beer festivals spring up left right and centre to keep you cool – and drunk – on those hot summer days.
Having lived in Budapest for many years the boys and girls of Stag Republic have become a regular fixture at these festivals and as such we know the best ones to go to. If you’re lucky enough to book your stag weekend in Budapest during one of these festivals – well then you’re in for a treat.
Here are a few of our all-time favourites:
Buda Castle Beer Festival (Budavari Sorfesztival):
June 12th – 15th.
A must for all lover of craft beer and with a spectacular view of the whole city it’s your chance to get drunk and “see” the city. To keep you entertained there will be concerts, tasty grub and most importantly 200+ types of beer to sample.
Frustratingly you’ll have to queue a few times over – to get your wristband, your glass and finally a beer, but you’ll no doubt be surrounded by the company of fellow tourists and of course your lovely guide for the weekend – so we’re confident you won’t get bored.

Czech Beer Festival (Cseh Sörnapok):
June 17th – July 13th
Arguably the 2nd best producer of beer in Europe (after Belgium of course!), Czech beer producers will be taking up residence in Városháza Park (City Hall Park). You can expect over 50 types of beer alongside traditional Czech and Hungarian food on offer.

Sziget Festival
Aug 11th – 18th
No festival roundup would be complete without mentioning the jewel in the Budapest crown – Sziget Festival. A 7-day armageddon of booze, great music, crazy parties and fit girls wearing now that much as they jump up and down to whatever latest womp womp Skrillex is putting out.
Tickets don’t sell out thankfully but some preparation in advance is required. Visit for a day or buy a week-long ticket and camp onsite or find city accommodation. Either way, expect to find the city cram-packed and in high spirits. It’s definitely a good week to be in the city.
